Brutalist Wooden Tables, France - Mid-20th Century
Description
French wooden tables dating to the mid-20th century, each constructed around a substantial tabletop supported by four broad, angled wooden elements. These supports converge directly beneath the top before extending outward, creating a strongly articulated base that gives the tables their distinctive geometric character. The group includes both angular and circular tabletop formats, translating the same structural principle into subtly different compositions. Their substantial timber construction, exposed structure and emphasis on geometry give the tables a distinctly Brutalist character.
The same construction is repeated across a group of six accompanying tabouret stools, available in a separate listing, creating a coherent family of furniture in which the characteristic base is adapted to different scales and functions. Four tables are available, each sold individually; together with the corresponding stools, they can also form a distinctive ensemble within a café or hospitality interior. Variations in grain, surface and traces of use give each example its individual character. All our rustic furniture has undergone a two-cycle preventive woodworm treatment for long-term care.
