Shell Chair by Marco Sousa Santos for Branca Lisboa - 2009
Description
Wooden lounge Shell Chair, designed by Marco Sousa Santos. A beautiful easy chair that combines traditional Portuguese artisan techniques with modern aesthetics. The chair is made of hand-assembled birch plywood and has a unique cocoon shape supported by organically emerging legs. The design of the Shell chair is inspired by both formal and structural biological references, giving it a natural and organic appearance. Its shape is reminiscent of a shell and evolves like a natural body composed of vertebrae and spine, working as a natural force and weight distribution. The chair is not only visually striking, but also ergonomically sound, as it functions as a "pillow container" that can be adjusted or filled with more or fewer pillows according to each user's needs. The two chairs available are priced per piece and come with pillows.
