19th-century folk art cabinet distinguished by geometrically carved drawers, panelled doors and a richly aged wooden surface.
Rustic Folk Art Carved Cabinet - 19th Century
Description
Rustic folk art cabinet dating to the 19th century, constructed in wood with two drawers above a pair of panelled doors. The drawer fronts are distinguished by geometric carving, combining elongated diamond forms with angular incised lines. Simple metal knobs and a wooden rotating latch complete the façade, while moulded edges around the top and base introduce subtle articulation to the otherwise direct construction.
The wood retains pronounced grain, knots, old marks, wear and variations in tone developed through age and use. Behind the two doors, the interior is divided by a simple wooden shelf. The restrained construction of the cabinet provides a contrast to the graphic carving of the drawers, allowing these details to become the principal decorative element. All our rustic furniture has undergone a two-cycle preventive woodworm treatment for long-term care.
