A 19th-century French Art Populaire pine dresser combining open shelving with a closed lower cabinet and a richly aged surface.
Rustic Art Populaire Pine Dresser, France - 19th Century
Description
This 19th-century French dresser is a characteristic example of rural Art Populaire furniture, constructed in pine with a tall open rack above a substantial enclosed base. Multiple shelves provide generous display space, while the lower section incorporates two cupboard doors fitted with simple iron hinges and wooden closures. Its straightforward construction, irregular joinery and extensively worn surface preserve the utilitarian character of vernacular craftsmanship, with variations in tone and patina developed through generations of use. All our rustic furniture has undergone a two-cycle preventive woodworm treatment for long-term care.
