This bookcase or room divider created by industrial designer Wim Rietveld (son of Gerrit Rietveld) was made for exclusive department store De Bijenkorf in 1960. De Bijenkorf sold a lot of top designs by Friso Kramer, Wim Rietveld, Gerrit Rietveld, Gio Ponti etc. They worked with great designers in those days and the still do now. This bookcase was designed after the wooden bookcase Gerrit Rietveld created in the 1930s. It stands on its own and can be used as a room divider. It features its original black and white color.
