Enzo Mari 'Sedia 1' Chair for Artek - 2010
Description
‘Sedia 1’ is a self-assembly chair originally designed in 1974 by Italian designer Enzo Mari and has been put into production by Finnish furniture brand Artek in 2010. This Enzo Mari chair was part of the project ‘Autoprogettazione’, which was a collection of furniture that consisted of very basic and affordable materials. In line with the original idea of the project, customers purchase a set of pre-cut pinewood boards, nails and assembly instructions – with which this chair can be self-assembled using just a hammer. This ‘Sedia 1’ chair features a clear construction with an original whitewash finish. A highly sought-after collectable item. Both chairs are stamped with ‘Artek, design Enzo Mari’ on the underside of the chairs.
Enzo Mari is a designer, thinker and provocateur. Determined to develop mass-produced objects without compromising his belief that the outcome should always be beautiful to look at and feel while being functional.
We have two Sedia 1 chairs available, priced per piece, both in great original condition.
