A sculptural set of six cubic lounge chairs in solid oak, crafted in Belgium during the 1980s and defined by architectural clarity.
Cubic Oak Postmodern Armchairs, Belgium – 1980s
Description
These armchairs were produced in Belgium during the 1980s and exemplify the strong geometric vocabulary associated with European postmodern design. Executed in solid oak, each is composed of bold cubic volumes with broad planar arm supports and a recessed seat and backrest. The balanced proportions and clearly defined volumes give the design a strong architectural character, while the dark textured upholstery provides a subtle contrast to the natural tone and grain of the oak. They reflect the rational construction and sculptural sensibility found in Belgian design of the late twentieth century, with low, generous proportions that emphasize comfort within a rigorously defined form. Eight examples are available, each priced individually.
