Description

A remarkable olive-green Bossche School square coffee table, characterised by its minimal brutalist style and copper nails. The combination of the wood and copper nails gives this piece a natural and rustic feel. This Bossche School square coffee table was made in the Netherlands in the 1980s, following the design principles of the Dutch Benedictine monk & architect Dom Hans van der Laan. Functionality and rationality were key for Dom Hans van der Laan, which is also noticeable in this particular design. This item is a beautiful piece of Dutch design history. Van der Laan was a leading figure in the Bossche School. His theories on numerical ratios in architecture and furniture were very influential. During the reconstruction period after WWII, the Dutch architect Jan de Jong and Dom Hans van der Laan collaborated on several architectural projects including interior furniture. Together, they created an outstanding body of work defining the style of the Bossche School.

This minimalistic square coffee table would make a perfect match with the olive-green Bossche School credenza and stool, available in other listings.
