Description

Rare occasional table by Hildo Krop, crafted in the early 1920s, a striking example of the Amsterdam School style. Made from rich mahogany, the table combines the expressive, dramatic elements typical of the movement with a more modernist reduction to essential forms and colors. Its sculptural quality, refined yet bold, makes it a standout piece for any interior. The table has been kept in its original condition, preserving its authenticity and character. We also offer two matching armchairs in a separate listing, complementing the table's distinctive design.

Hildebrand Lucien (Hildo) Krop (1884-1970) was a prolific figure in Dutch modernism, widely celebrated as the city sculptor of Amsterdam. His sculptural works can still be admired on many of the city’s interbellum buildings and bridges. As a furniture designer, Krop’s designs embody the Amsterdam School’s dramatic flair and its emphasis on expressive, architectural forms. His furniture designs are represented in esteemed museum collections, including the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, Stedelijk Museum, and Gemeentemuseum in The Hague.
