Italian Art Deco Revival wooden writing desk from the 1970s, featuring architectural proportions, fluted panel supports and concealed storage.
Art Deco Revival Wooden Writing Desk, Italy - 1970s
Description
Italian Art Deco Revival writing desk dating to the 1970s, characterised by its elongated proportions, chamfered corners and richly grained wood finish. The rectangular top is supported by two substantial panel legs with vertical fluting, while the angular transitions between the top and supports reinforce its architectural silhouette. Two integrated drawers flank a concealed central pull-out writing surface with a hinged front panel, preserving the clean geometry of the design.
The desk reflects the renewed interest in Art Deco during the 1970s, reinterpreting the movement's geometric vocabulary through restrained ornamentation and functional detailing. Its balanced proportions, carefully integrated storage and emphasis on wood grain give the piece a distinctive architectural character. Designed specifically for installation against a wall, the desk cannot be used as a freestanding piece.
