Hammered and polished brass, fireplace, by the Belgian transdisciplinary artist Walter De Buck Walter De Buck (Ghent, July 13, 1934 - there, December 21, 2014) was a Flemish artist. He was involved in various arts, including drawing, painting, sculpture, folk music and theater. De Buck was the son of Johanna Collumbien and Leonard De Buck. His father was a painter who was a drawing teacher at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Ghent. Walter De Buck also followed a course at this academy, which he completed with highest distinction in 1954. De Buck made his debut at the 1958 World's Fair as a sculptor. He received several awards for his sculpture, one of which earned him a scholarship for a one-year study trip to India. He would undertake further trips to India and the Near East, which significantly influenced his visual arts, music and his vision of society.- Materials
