Monumental Stainless-Steel Uplighter by Targetti - 1970s

Description

This exceptionally rare cylindrical floor lamp was custom-made in the 1970s by the renowned Italian lighting manufacturer Targetti for an exclusive private club in Bologna. Only six examples were ever produced, making this lamp a true collector’s piece within the world of Italian modernist design. It features a bold, polished stainless-steel cylinder that lends a monumental presence to any architectural interior. Designed as an uplighter, it casts a soft, atmospheric glow that enhances spatial drama and verticality. Its minimalist construction, original coiled cord, and refined detailing reflect both the era’s technical innovation and Italy’s enduring dedication to craftsmanship.

Targetti’s story began in Florence in 1928 as a small workshop selling lamps and electrical goods, evolving into one of Italy’s most respected lighting brands; by 1937, its artisans were shaping light with a reverence akin to Renaissance craftsmen, and in 1959 the company expanded into a modern industrial complex, marking a new era rooted equally in beauty and technical progress.
