Built-in 1937 by Pol Abraham and Henry Jacques Le Even, Martel de Janville is the last sanatorium built in the Plateau d'Assy. A real liner in reinforced concrete, it belongs to the so-called “compact” group. This building, formerly reserved for army officers and non-commissioned officers, integrates all services into a single “T” -shaped building. The 120 meter-long facade is distinguished by asymmetrical tiering, treatment rooms with projecting balconies, symmetrically grouped in pairs, cantilevered entrance canopies, a large fore-body punctuated by large double arches. The three wings are articulated around a double-axis based on two semi-circular entrances and topped by a sculptural conical fireplace. The beauty of the building still lies in the dynamic contrast created by the opposition between rectilinear and curved forms. The decor of the chapel was frescoed by Angel Zarraga. Listed as a Historic Monument, Martel de Janville is also labeled "20th Century Heritage".
