Italian Red Travertine Dining Table 'Il Colonnato' by Mario Bellini for Cassina, 1977
'Il Colonnato' Dining Table by Mario Bellini - 1977
Description
'Il Colonnato', a red travertine round dining table, created by Italian designer Mario Bellini for Cassina in 1977. Bellini's 'Il Colonnato' is an exceptional and minimalistic piece made entirely of solid red travertine and consists of four cylindrical legs supporting a round tabletop. The legs are not fixed to the tabletop, which means they can also be moved to the centre, as shown in the photos. For this design, Bellini was inspired by ancient Roman columns. The travertine shows beautiful veins. The combination of rich earthy red tones creates a harmonious colour palette. This iconic design item will highlight the elegance of a dining room. It’s a highly sought-after centrepiece, in great original condition.
