Metal shelving piece by artist Susana Solano, a limited edition gem from the iconic Meta Memphis collection in Italy, circa 1989. This exquisite bookcase shelving, produced in a limited run of 25 pieces for Memphis Milano, stands as a testament to Solano's innovative design sensibilities. The adjustable height feature adds functional versatility to its aesthetic charm. Drawing inspiration from Japanese design elements, the shelving unit exudes a captivating pentagonal grace that elevates any space it graces.

Susana Solano, born in Barcelona in 1946, emerges from a rich artistic background, having studied at the Real Acadèmia Catalana de Bellas Artes de San Jorge. Influenced by her early exposure to the enchanting landscapes of El Palau in Falset, Sant Gregori, Valldoreix, and the Mediterranean Coast, Solano's sculpture, drawing, and photography are deeply rooted in her profound connection to space and materials. A prominent figure among the Spanish sculptors who rose to prominence after the demise of dictator Francisco Franco in 1975, Solano's work spans various materials, including iron, steel, lead, glass, and wire mesh. Her distinct abstract creations captivate art enthusiasts worldwide, and this shelving unit stands as a testament to her enduring legacy in the world of contemporary art and design.
